Les amateurs de musique indienne de Montréal sont invités à un concert de tabla solo par le grand maître Yogesh Samsi, accompagné au harmonium par Tanmay Deochake. 

Une chance unique d’entendre un concert exceptionnel conjuguant l'art et la science rythmique. Yogesh Samsi est un des rares joueur de tabla qui maitrise aussi bien l’art de l’accompagnement que du solo. Le fils du grand chanteur Pandit Dinkar Kaikini, Yogesh Samsi a été introduit au tabla par son père à l’âge de 4 ans et par la suite a reçu l’enseignement intensif du légendaire Ustad Alla Rakha (le père de Zakir Hussain) durant 23 ans.  

Il a accompagné presque tout les grands musiciens et chanteurs de la musique indienne, incluant Ustad Vilayat Khan, Pt Shivkumar Sharma, Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Alla Rakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain.  

La dextérité et la subtilité à manipuler le temps et le ton à travers les schémas rythmiques complexes est une chose remarquable chez Yogesh Samsi.

This long awaited concert shows off the amazing versatility of the tabla through the hands of India’s great intellectual maestros, Pandit Yogesh Samsi. His sublime dexterity in manipulating time and tone through rhythmic patterns is exhilarating to witness. Yogesh Samsi is a tabla player renowned for his consummate artistry in both fields of accompaniment and solo playing. 

The son of the renowned vocalist Pandit Dinkar Kaikini, Yogesh Samsi was initiated into tabla by his father at the tender age of four. However it was under the gifted tutelage of the legendary Ustad Alla Rakha that Yogesh received intense training for twenty-three years. Besides Ustad Zakir Husaain, Samsi is Ustad Alla Rakha’s most senior disciple. 

Samsi has accompanied almost all the top ranking instrumentalists and vocalists and dancers of India, including Ustad Vilayat Khan, Pt Dinkar Kaikini, Pt Shivkumar Sharma, Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Alla Rakha and Ustad Zakir Hussein and Pt Birju Maharaj. He has numerous memorable solo performances in India and abroad.
