Coup de cœur de Peter Gabriel au Womad 2012, duo improbable et détonnant, Joe Driscoll, musicien, rapper et beatboxer à l’esprit rock, et Sékou Kouyaté, ancien membre du groupe de Ba Cissoko, surnommé le « Jimi Hendrix de la kora », se sont rencontrés au festival Nuits métis de Marseille en 2010. « Il ne parlait pas un mot de français et je ne parlais pas anglais… Mais à travers la musique, nous nous comprenions ». Leur récent album, Faya, est un mix de polyphonies africaines, de hip hop, de rock et de reggae.

A favourite of Peter Gabriel at Womad 2012, this unlikely and explosive duo, Joe Driscoll, a musician, rapper and beatboxer with a rock spirit, and Sékou Kouyaté, a former member of the group led by Ba Cissoko, nicknamed the “Jimi Hendrix of the kora,” met at the Nuits métis de Marseille Festival in 2010. “He didn’t speak a word of French, and I didn’t speak English. But through music, we understood one another.” Their recent album, Faya, is a blend of African polyphony, hip-hop, rock and reggae.
