22-year old trumpeter, vocalist, and composer Nico Sarbanes returns to Upstairs for his first performance in the city in more than two years. During his time in Montreal as a student at McGill’s Schulich School of Music, Sarbanes won awards for performance and composition, and was featured in multiple performances at the International Jazz Festival (one as the opening act for Dianne Reeves).  

Since returning to his hometown of Baltimore, MD in 2015, he has continued to garner widespread praise for both his virtuosic trumpet playing and his impressive command of the vocal jazz repertoire, performing with Baltimore jazz legends such as Antonio Hart, Warren Wolf, Winard Harper, and Tim Green.
